Top Ten Films of 2012


The year 2012 has come and gone, infact it is now eight months into 2013, but I still have forgot to write a Top 10 of 2012 list! I have seen over 60 films from 2012 and reviewed about 30 of them, so this shall be a challenge. Many say that there are no masterpieces left to make, but I respectfully disagree. The greatest film of 2012 will stand the test of time and will be as known as 1939's Wizard of Oz is now. The following ten have the ability to change your outlook on life, make you cry like a baby and/or give you a new-found respect for the Art of Cinema. Reasons will be made in point form.

10. Fake It So Real

-Heartfelt Documenary about a group of unemployed and handicapped wrestlers who just wish to entertain

-Encouraging of chasing dreams

-Tear Jerker



9. Excision

-Extremely disturbing and violent, yet deeply psychological

-Black Swan if it was directed by Charles Manson

-Terrifying. A film that you won't get out of your head




 8. Moonrise Kingdom

-Directed by Wes Anderson

-Hilarious and lighthearted

-Very creative. Even Edward Norton's brief appearance makes a lasting impression



 7. Searching For Sugarman

-Fantastic Soundtrack

- Another tear-jerking Documentary

-Academy Award Winner






6. The Master

-Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson

-Joaquin Phoenix's comeback!

- Compelling themes regarding the nature of man




5. How to Survive A Plague

-Political Documentary about the AIDS crisis in regards to how gays were treated

- Fantastic Editing which makes the film spellbinding




 4. Whore's Glory

-A feminist documentary at heart

-Shocking look at the mistreatment of prostitutes all around the world

-Unique perspectives



3. Life of Pi

 -Breathtaking Visuals

-Excellent Use of 3D

-Loads of thought provoking themes

-High replay value


2. Passionflower

-Tearjerker

-Visionary autobiographical family drama by a Female Canadian filmmaker

-Better than A Woman Under the Influence


 

1. The Turin Horse

-Directed by Bella Tarr

-Haunting yet extremely beautiful

-A masterpiece that deserves high praise
